Introduction
This project aims to reflect the perpetual mental struggles of today’s ordinary human. So simple yet so complicated. So special yet so typical. Spectacular yet so boring. We genuinely consider ourselves ordinary people with same old ordinary concerns, contradictions and dilemmas. Nonetheless, each individual believes that their situation is unique and personal; we are trying to take these common issues and turn them to something special for the audience so they will be able to connect with our songs, videos and stories.
For this purpose, we put together a set of 12 songs with original composition, lyrics and arrangement. For each composition we have prepared a unique visualization, synchronized with each song’s tempo and interacting with melodies and beats. The set pursues Gesamtkunstwerk, aiming to trigger the different senses of the audience at the highest possible rate.
While the first half of the set has a more playful, funny and energetic vibe, the second half starts with a relatively darker and more mysterious atmosphere and turns subtly into a melancholic soundscape of fear and hope. A familiar scenario for the people fighting for their freedom and rights and against fanaticism and dogmatism, leading and accompanying the audience from dark nights of desperation to light and hope for better tomorrows.

Settings
The set consists of following, which will be provided by the collective:
- 2 panels for rear projection, each 3×3 m (projection area 2,25 x 3 m). Frames are made of black aluminum profiles and the screens are made of high quality prospects from black VOILE CS 300 (permanent schwerentflammbar nach DIN 4102 B1). This setting is perfect for a rear projection, to avoid direct lighting and make a silhouette-like effect for the performers at times.
- 2 projectors for rear projection, installed on the ground behind the panels
- Monitoring system consisting of 2 pieces of “the box PA 110 A”, 1x Mixer “Behringer Xenyx X1222”, 1x Audio Interface “Scarlett 2i2 Focusrite” including all cables, power adapters and accessories
- 2x microphone “Shure SM 58” and 1x microphone Sennheiser E835 S with microphone stands
- Instruments: 2x guitars, 1x bass, 3x keyboards, 1x Drum-Pad, 1x Samplers including all the effect devices, cables, accessories, etc.
- NUC-AIO computer and a small monitor to control the visuals and sound effects for live performance
What we need the organizer to provide:
- A performance room, around 150 to ca. 250 m2 area. This includes the area for the music and visual performance, filming crew and necessary technical installations. The room should have at least one or preferably multiple electric sockets. The possibility to make the room completely dark would fit our visual setting perfectly: for instance shades for covering the windows. No windows are preferred, to provide a bunker-like character and ambience.
- Professional lighting system (if available)
- 2x projectors (if available)
Duration:
– 1 day preparation of the setting and installations
– 1 day performance
– a buffer time of 1 to 2 extra days would be appreciated, but not absolutely necessary
Who are we?
Silky Psyche is a Berlin based music and visual arts collective combining influences from trip-hop, new prog, indie rock, post-punk and shoegaze. The collective was originally formed in 2019 and currently consists of two active members Kia Massoudi and Ideen Azarnezhad, and a new featuring artist and choreographer Margarita Ioannidou. Drawing upon each other’s’ experiences and cultural backgrounds, the collective creates a synthesized world of sounds, impressions, and emotional landscapes. The name of the collective reflects a world that has always been interconnected. “Silky” refers to the historical Maritime Silk Road that connected South-East Asia to Europe through Persia. Together with “Psyche,” it resonates a translucent state of mind.

Our Background
Both members of Silky Psyche are born and raised in Iran, Tehran and met while studying Architecture/Urban Planning in Art University of Tehran. Surrounded by many artists of different disciplines throughout their journey from Tehran to Berlin, the essence of Silky Psyche was shaped in time and space of such background.
Following and keeping up with the diversity of all the people with colorful cultures in separated places, by time we have picked variety of viewpoints and palette of ideas and base our soundscape on them.
It is an intertwined and inseparable discipline of many thoughts, emotions and experiences. From the mournful tunes of Kamancheh and Daf (ancient and traditional Iranian instruments) to modern electronic beats, we speak our own language and tell our own stories. From nostalgic and retro footages of early expressionist cinematographers to post-modern glossy cinematic effects, we welcome every inspirations that talk directly to our souls and fuel our imagination.
Our lyrics are plain and simple and has a direct approach, which reflect our own interpretation of our environment.
